Biography
Liang Joo is a dermatologist and surgeon; but manages to fit a recording or two into his busy schedule! Having trained in phonetics at university, he specialises in various regional as well as foreign accents in his three native languages; English, Indonesian and Malay. Recent character work has included English voices as the Last Emperor, a Bangkok touter and a Vietnamese busker.
He has voiced national campaigns for NAB, AUSTAR, Energizer, Western Union and the Australian Electoral Commission. As a seasoned UN-level interpreter, he has served as a linguist for heads of state from the US, Canada, Indonesia and Malaysia. Previously a presenter and actor on Australian TV, he is as comfortable and responsive on camera as he is on mic.
His natural accent is southern English, but he can break easily into other accents of the British Isles, or even into song!
