
Biography
Fiona Macleod is an actor, voice artist, audiobook narrator, and arts publicist with a diverse career spanning more than 30 years across theatre, screen, and voice performance. From her beginnings on school stages to founding and running a theatre company and touring extensively throughout Australia, storytelling has remained at the centre of her work. An intuitive and agile performer, Fiona has built a reputation for her ability to quickly decode a script and immediately embody a wide range of characters with empathy, intelligence, and emotional truth.
As a voice artist, Fiona is known for her warmth, clarity, and versatility. Whether delivering compassion and friendliness or the voice of quiet authority with effortless gravitas, she brings authenticity and connection to every project. Collaborative, positive, and highly reliable, she is a trusted creative partner who approaches every campaign with professionalism and genuine care for the story being told.
Fiona specialises in audiobook narration, a medium that perfectly combines her love of storytelling and performance. Bringing characters and narratives to life through voice alone is her happy place, and her ability to sustain character and convey emotional depth has made her a sought-after narrator.
Her theatre credits include Oil Babies, Yellingbo, Taking the Waters, Construction of the Human Heart, and Ride. Her extensive screen work includes Goolagong, Displaced, Utopia, My Life Is Murder, Five Bedrooms, True Story with Hamish & Andy (Seasons 1 and 2), Back in Very Small Business, Wentworth, Offspring, Seven Types of Ambiguity, Laid, Paper Giants, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Satisfaction, and the feature film A Dangerous Method. Film credits also include My Melbourne Match, Noise, The Heartbreak Tour, and Little Deaths.
Alongside her performing career, Fiona currently teaches voiceover skills to third-year actors at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), sharing the knowledge and experience gained from a career dedicated to storytelling in all its forms.
As well as her commercial voice-over work, Fiona is also very much enjoys audio-book narration where she gets to do one of her favourite things – sit and read stories aloud.
