As of 1 July 2025, the MEAA has introduced a new voiceover rate card. This update was developed by MAVA (part of the MEAA), a group of voice artists who conducted thorough research to create the new and improved rate structure. EM Voices proudly supports the practice of following MEAA guidelines to ensure equitable and transparent rates are delivered to both clients and voice artists. The revision of the voiceover rate card aims to reflect modern voiceover practices and maintain its relevance in the ever-changing landscape of the voice-over industry.
We’ve listed the major changes to the rate card and what this means for our customers moving forward.
BVOD, SVOD and PIP
The biggest change on the voicoever rate card is the online category, which was once an all-inclusive bundle and has now been divided into two bundles.
BVOD + SVOD
Broadcast Video On Demand (BVOD) is the digital version of their LIVE broadcast.
This includes:
– 7Plus
– 10Play
– 9Now
– SBS On Demand
– Streaming Video On Demand (SVOD) is all your streaming apps.
This includes:
– Netflix
– DisneyPlus
– Paramount
– Prime
Paid Internet Placement (PIP)
Paid Internet Placement includes online advertising that a customer has chosen to place their advertising across the internet.
This includes:
– Meta Advertising
– Google Display & YouTube Advertising
– Websites (that have paid advertising)
– Twitch
– In-Game or In-App Advertising
Non-Commercial Rates
Another big change is formalising Non-Commercial rates. Before this change, it was at the discretion of the voice-over agencies; now it has become formalised to create consistency in the industry.
This includes:
– Videos on companies’ websites
– Corporate Videos
– Hype Reels
– Awards Entries
– Training Videos
– IVR + Message on Hold
Quotes, Rollovers and Current Contracts with EM Voices
Quotes given prior to 1st July 2025
EM Voices will honour all quotes that were given to customers before the 1st July 2025, up to three months from the original quote date.
Rollovers
For rollovers, we generally rollover at 100% of the original contract fee and usage terms for the first three years. For example, if your original contract and terms were for 12 months, national online, and you wish to renew on these terms, then the original fee would be applied. Any changes to these terms, for example, if you change the usage to three months, then the new rate card fees will be applied.
Current Contracts that have expired
If your current contract has expired, please contact us at EM Voices and we will send you an updated quote, whether it’s a rollover as it is the same usage or it’s a new fee as the job is slightly different.
To find the full details of what’s changed, please download the new rate card, or send us the details of your job, and we’ll send a quote back.
